Reed McKenzie is a Singer Songwriter based in Asheville, North Carolina. He began his music career singing James Taylor tunes on his pre-school playground.

 

Today, Reed's intimate finger-style guitar playing and warm vocals are reminiscent of the singer songwriters that made such early impressions on him, he'll surprise listeners with soulful eruptions of strings and voice that mesh Blues, Punk, Folk, Rock and Americana together into something uniquely all his own.

 

The five year old boy who belted out, "thinking about women and glasses of beer" at the top of his lungs is still alive and well; the difference being that today, with several decades of experience behind him, Reed has learned it's much more fulfilling to pursue music than women and beer.

Reed is comfortable performing with a full band or alone, in any venue. However, it's worth noting that something magical happens when the room is small and the audience close. This type of space often elicits a Bruce Springsteen style of story telling from Reed before and after each song. To witness him play in one of these settings is not to be missed.

 

Reed is an old soul with a young and creative heart.
